Water resources

With growing environmental awareness, the problems resulting from the misuse of surface and groundwater resources is a subject of extensive knowledge of the entire society has been demanding for everyone involved, users and managers, a lot of effort for their rational use and proper maintenance.

Federal law states that it is for defined management of these resources, and therefore the responsibility of state governments authorization and supervision of works and services that interfere with water bodies and aquifers.

The regularization of the different uses of water resources and interference is made by drawing up projects and studies to demonstrate its correct use, considering factors such as intended use, demand to be met, flow rates and reservations available, appropriate treatment and disposal systems, interference with nearby users and identification of potential sources of contamination.

In São Paulo the organs that evaluate together the developments that utilize water resources are:

  • DAEE Sanitation and Energy Secretariat, responsible for granting the use and management of water resources policy in the state.
  • Cetesb - Department of Environment
  • DEPRN - Department of Environment
  • Health Surveillance - Department of Health
  • GRAPROHAB - Group Analysis and Approval of Housing Projects

The main services developed in the area of Water Resources are:

  • Evaluation of the Efficiency of Water Use.

Diagnosis aimed at identifying problems in abstraction, distribution systems, reservation and release by a new development that could derail the availability of water resources due to exhaustion or contamination.

  • Single Supply Systems.

Projects for new ventures or projects to adapt to existing, focused on optimizing the use of water resources, with the possibility to reuse treated effluent systems.

  • Reviews Hydrogeological;
  • Feasibility Studies Deployment;
  • Efficiency Assessment Reports;
  • Project Development Funding in Deep Aquifers;
  • Hydrological reviews for installing rails, crossings and removal of surface water resources;
  • Drafting of buses and surface water abstraction;
  • Grant requests of Use;
  • Registration and monitoring of alternative water supplies by the Health Surveillance;
  • Infiltration tests and sizing of individual sewage treatment systems for housing development projects, according specific technical standards (NBR 7229 / 1993 NBR 13969/1997 and GRAPROHAB Manual ).
